7-4 Blessed are the Peacemakers

But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them:

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25 KJV)

Today division and dissention are everywhere, from our homes and workplaces to our government. Love is cold, frustration is rampant and little is accomplished.

God blesses agreement, not division. As God’s emissaries, we have the opportunity and duty to bring peace to every difficult situation. When we bring peace, without compromising God’s principles, it gives God the opportunity to work.

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called children of God. (Matthew 5:9 NLT)

We need God’s blessings and will receive them only when the rancor ceases. When we treat those who differ with us with kindness, God can change hearts, show us areas of agreement and resolve difficulties. He can give us His innovative ideas. But we must be able to listen and discuss things calmly. Any anger or haughtiness stops meaningful communication.

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! … Then you will find favor with both God and people and you will earn a good reputation. (Proverbs 3: 3-4 NLT)

Instead (of arguing), we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. (Ephesians 4:15 NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father,

We repent for not acting in love
toward those who are difficult or who oppose us.
Grant us Your wisdom, a listening ear and discerning heart.

Help us make You the center of all of our relationships
and demonstrate the love and forgiveness
that You have granted us.

Help us to bring peace to each difficult situation
We ask these things in Jesus’ name.

AMEN!
